John J. Doe Dear Mr. Roe: The purpose of this letter is to request your assistance in a matter of utmost importance. I am a registered voter in your district and wish your assistance in preventing a potential tragedy. I am a Government employee working at the Flight Service Station located in <location>. I am proud of the work I do assisting pilots and their passengers safely and securely reaching their destinations. I have recently been notified that the FAA, in a misguided effort to save money at the cost of safety and security has hired a private contractor to prepare a study to commercialize the services provided by the flight service stations under the A-76 program. I strongly support efforts to save money. In fact, I know of many areas where our old, outdated equipment could be modernized and immediately provide significant cost savings without compromising safety. However, their recommendation, which addressed neither safety nor security, ignores these and simply says replace the Government employees who managed the airspace in the hectic days following 9/11 with the lowest bidder. Please understand that in addition to affecting voters in your district, this A-76 activity will have a significant detrimental effect on our nations security and the safety of the traveling public. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide in stopping this activity and ensuring the high level of service the flying public deserves. Please feel free to contact me if I can provide any additional information. Good Luck in November! <only if appropriate> Sincerely,
John J. Doe |
