NAATS HQ E-Mail Update
NAATS HQ E-Mail Update
When I first read the LM web site I was angry and going to respond, after further reflection and taking a deep breath I realized that it wasn't worth my time or energy. You're a pretty savvy group of people who have been through the ringer over the past couple of years and the last thing you need is for me to beat the dead horse again. My goal is to see you all represented and to help build the organization from the ground up. It will be hard work, but I believe worth it in the end. I've had the pleasure of working closely with the people from NAGE and they are hard working union people who believe in protecting and promoting people. As this unfolds and you get to see more of them I think you'll agree with me. There have been rumors that I had taken a job at FAA headquarters and I was a 15 already, I have not. The only reason I bring this up is I worked a 6am-2:30pm shift today at BDR AFSS and we got killed. Between 8a-9a we had over 140 calls with 4 briefers, lost almost half and our service level bottomed out at 0. The reason I bring this up is the people I work with are the absolute best people I've worked with ever. We strapped in and did the best we could with what we had. I can only imagine how things might be different if we have a say in schedule/staffing/working conditions. In a meeting last week someone brought up the quote "equal too or better than service", remember that, I chuckled. The pilots are getting equal too or better than service as far as the briefs go, because of who you are and the job you do. They are certainly not getting the same access that's for certain. This decision is up to you and how ever it plays out I think you really are a great bunch. We may not always agree on issues but I respect each and every one of you. Imagine how boring life would be if we all agreed on issues. I hope you vote YES, not for what has been but for what can be. Other news, the web site has been updated, take a look. Nothing new over the weekend on the retirement issues or EEOC issues.
