Dear Mr. Pike:

This is to notify you that the FAA is beginning a competitive sourcing feasibility study of the functions performed at Flight Service Stations and Automated Flight Service Stations. The agency has contracted with Grant Thornton LLP to conduct the study and provide consultative services in relation to the A-76 process.

Although the entire competitive sourcing process is lengthy, we expect that definitive data and more details will be available in the July-August timeframe. At the appropriate point in the process, the agency will provide additional updates and satisfy all bargaining requirements set forth in the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statue and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

The point of contact for this initiative is Ron Page. Ron can be reached on (202) 267-9960.

Sincerely,

Chris Bertram
Assistant Administrator for Financial
Services and Chief Financial Officer
